Lisa and Joey, your wishes has been granted!
Here comes a review on Shills’ Concealer set!
The black box that came with both concealer and highlighter were squished and squashed till it lost all the prettiness in it, ugh, hate that. Freaking post office. But then again, the seller didn’t really put much effort in wrapping anyway. *shrugs* 2 parties to be blamed I guess.
Anyway, back to the concealer and highlighter.
It’s a click and twist kind of a concealer and a highlighter, think Stila’s lipglaze. Twist twist clickety click click, twist twist clickety click. And concealer comes oozing out of the brush.
Now, I really don’t want to associate everything that’s click and twist = Stila’s lipglaze , but that is SO STILA! It’s their trademark! Isn’t it?
Done with analyzing their physical apperance, time to go deeper. Ahem.
First of all, the colours. The concealer is known as the Flawless Pen (duh!) and highlighter, well, Luminous Pen. Flawless is a yellowy-peach while Luminous is a beige-ish pink. Both contains shimmer, but in a very subtle way.
You might not see the shimmer in this picture (the camera couldn’t capture it), but it gives a nice even glow to the skin. My sister who dislike anything shimmery on her face other than eyeshadows, said she loves the shimmer and the glow it gives!
Texture, it’s creamy. Not super creamy, but just nice to blend it in. It dries down to a dewy finish, since it has some shimmer in it. Coverage wise, I’d say it’s sheer to medium, and it’s buildable. Unless you have super dark circles or very bad blemishes, it does the job pretty well. And because it does have some shimmer particle in it, it gives a soft focus glow. Also, it doesn’t go cakey after a few layers like some other concealers, so that’s a plus point. I usually pat a bit of powder to set it, and it pretty much stays that way the whole day.
Oxidization is minimal and it doesn’t fade much, and it’s convenient to bring along in your bag for touchups. However, I do have my grumbles and mumbles. Hehe.
One. There is only one colour available for the concealer and highlighter!
Bleh. What if I am dark? I can’t possibly use this 2 without looking like I am wearing a mask or something, right? Or what if I am super fair and this is too dark for me? the ifs…
Two. Which I think most people might have thought about it too.
How many times do I need to twist it till the product comes out?
For my first 2 or 3 times of using this, I twist it countless times. Yawns. And when it does come out (unexpectedly!), a big blob comes out from the tip! Talk about wastage! But after that few times, things are better
If you notice, I focus pretty much on the concealer instead of the highlighter. I personally find that the highlighter is pretty decent, but nothing much that’s outstanding and yes, I can live without it. The highlighter is nothing much, just adding some shimmer and shine and highlights the face. I have lots of other highlighters that works, and I prefer powder highlighters better than liquid/ creams, so maybe, just maybe, I am a little biased about this particular highlighter.
If you are somewhat near my skintone (MAC NC25/30, EDM Matte foundie in Light, Kate Liquid Foundation in OC-C), you can give this a try. If you are very dark, skip this. Don’t think this will work for you. But if you are somewhat near my skintone and don’t own any concealers/ highlighters or are thinking of trying new ones, this is a pretty nice set. I got this set of concealer and highlighter for RM45 in Lowyat.net but the price might vary from seller to seller.
Each pen contains 3g worth of product.
Is this a good buy? I’d say it is

Only ONE shade? How lame is that? Uh sorry girls but I thinks that’s just the right word. I’m dark skinned, so I def skip these products. Thanks for the review!
Btw, gosh how fair r u Plue? I noticed the blueish veins of your hand first before I saw the concealers. Hehe guess u’re so fair~

eeeeeeeeeeeeeep. i dont like anything with pen-style. the content will just come out as a blob unexpectedly and make a mess =/ same goes to lipgloss

i thought of buying these… hmmm….

FYI dear Plue, those ” squished and squashed till it lost all the prettiness in it” were thanks to the Custom Department, NOT post office. Post office staffs are not responsible for checking the shipping stuffs. Hope that clarifies certain things =)
So, freaking Custom Dept! =P

Hanna: I had my fair share of stuff being squished and squashed because of the Post Office. Post office staff actually does rip open your packages to give them a check OR to take 1 or 2 stuff. people can’t be trusted, whether it’s the custom or the post office. Le sigh.

Take 1 or 2 stuff? Isn’t that what we call STEALING?!! OMG, poor you. I used to work @ a post office during my sem break once. It never occurred to me to think of unwrapping ppl’s packages, let alone STEAL any of the ppl’s stuffs!
Them the PO and Custom dept! V_V

Hanna: That’s why I never use normal post or anything anymore. Post laju are pretty much safer, at least for so many times purchasing online, I haven’t got any problems. problems occur when i decide to use the cheaper postage
[Reply]
Urgh, as a former Pos Malaysia staff, I’m really ashamed. V_V
Yeah Poslaju is much safer, since it’s their specialty to deal with couriers and parcels. NEVER use normal postage for important letters @ packages next time around eh. =)
