Avon True Luminous Liquid Foundation in Beige Ochre

Hm, I think I’ve only used this once? Or twice?

Why did it ever went into the Cold Chamber?

I gave it a good shake, squirt some onto my hand and…

To my horror! Look at this!

Orange to the max! And it’s sooooo dark!!

I don’t care how luminous this foundation is or how featherly like the texture is, but this is so orange-y that it is IMPOSSIBLE to blend in perfectly with my skin which would look invisible.

Say hello to the trash bin, you orange foundie!

Have you girls got an orange foundation too? Tee hee!

I have been playing around with Lancome Maquiliquide UV Infinite for a while now, after after experimenting around for a bit, I guess it’s review time.

I got the same shade as Kahani and Bee!

Comes in a frosted glass bottle, which I like (classy!) but I would hate to lug it around for travelling because if it’s glass, it’s easily broken if not handled with care!

I absolutely adore this little detail

This is how BO-015 looks like when pumped onto hand

It’s very fluid, like water, but slightly thicker than water. It’s very lightweight too! Of course it’s lightweight, since it’s pretty much a water based foundation It’s pretty much a beige yellow type of colour which would be okay for my skintone. By the way, I only pump once and the foundation came oozing out! One pump is too much for my face, half the pump work way better.

Even though this is light and it does seem a bit sheer, but don’t let it fool you! It cancels out redness and evens out the skintone really nicely!

Nothing speaks the truth like a picture does, eh?

See how my skintone is evened out? And I just merely use like 1/4 of it for half of my face! Gasp!

However, the wonder stops here.

I would really like to love this foundation to bits, given that it does suit my skintone very well, albeit a little lighter than my neck (but hey, my neck’s 1/2 tone darker than my face!), and how lightweight and sheer but not that sheer the foundie is, but to use this, I need to be very careful on how I apply it and how much I use.

The first time I use it I used one pump, and disastrous I tell you! I look like an oil slick within minutes of applying! And it oxidized on me quite a fair bit too! It’s not glowy or dewy, but plain oily!

Fine. Second time I became smarter, used half a pump, not as bad as my first, but still oil slick I became within minutes. Frustrated, I didn’t know what to do.

And it hit me! I did not use ANY OIL CONTROL makeup base! Which means I didn’t use my trusty Biore sunblock. It’s a staple in my makeup and skincare routine because it does really help in oil control and gives me that clean, matte slightly powdery feeling each time!

And then I removed all makeup, re-do everything, but this time slap on some Biore and half a pump of foundie and see how it goes.

I am not so much of an oil slick anymore, it doesn’t oxidized as much as before and behaved quite the way I had wanted the foundation to perform on me. And to prolong the time of my skin secreting sebum, I apply a wee bit of powder on top of the foundie just to set it. And well, I am happy with the foundie now.

Would I be purchasing this? I think I just might, but we’ll see how. 30ml for RM130 isn’t exactly such a happy price for me but since I use so little at a time, a 30ml bottle will last me for ages

Available at all Lancome counters and comes in 11 shades! Take your pick!

Before I forget, the ingredient list

Forgive me for procrastinating, but I haven’t got any motivation to blog lately.

Not sure is it because the lack of readers? Or the lack of comments? Or whatever it is.

Anyway, I had mentioned bout a foundation review in my last entry, and I hope you girls will find this useful.

This is my first mineral foundation, which I bought quite a while back before the Maybelline mineral foundation.

Suitable for normal/combination skin

Coverage – light to medium

Finish – matte

Flawless, pure, fast and fun, simply so soft, wears so long and so light! Everyday Minerals’ Matte Foundation keeps skin radiant without shine.
Mica, Titanium Dioxide, Zinc Oxide, Iron Oxides. May contain: Ultramarines

Golden – Light
is ideal for light to medium complexions with gentle golden undertones. Makes a great summer shade for fair skin!

Taken from Lovingminerals.com

A swatch of the foundation. Pretty light huh? With a beige-y yellow tone. I don’t see much of a gentle golden undertone though, but uh, I maybe colour blind and needs to be educated on colours. Ahaha!

The colour matches my skintone pretty well, albeit a little fairer than my neck. Heck, my neck is 1/2 to 1 tone darker than my face, so no matter what shade I use, it’ll always be lighter than my neck! If I use a colour that’s a match for my neck, I think I’ll scream for the life of me when the foundation oxidizes and becomes darker than what it should be! Even if it doesn’t oxidize much, it’ll make my face look, uh… not as pretty. Ahaha. So, I still use foundation that’s a match for my face! Even if it oxidizes, it will still look more natural on me than a darker one. Or, do you girls have any suggestion or comments on this?

Off topic. =_=

Look at the foundation colour on my face, it doesn’t differ a lot. Maybelline in N00 Very Light Ochre gave me a more yellowish cast while this is pretty neutral on me. Coverage wise as you can see, it evens out the ruddiness on my cheeks and it does help to minimize the discolouration on my upper eyelids. And my freckles are pretty much invisible right now. And I did not blot my face prior to applying the foundation. I just sweep the foundation right away and hello matte skin! But it’s not really that matte, there’s a certain glow on my face. Tee hee. I like! Awesome huh!

And the powder is finely milled and blends very well. It makes my skin smooth and nice.

However, I noticed that on days I have skin drier than usual, this tends to flake a little, especially around the mouth area and the lower part of my cheeks and sometimes, a little bit on my forehead too. But I won’t complain too much about this, since this is meant for normal/ combination skin which I think it meant for oily skin types. So make sure you load up on moisturizers, let it sink into your skin before putting this foundation on to avoid it being flakey and patchy! And be sure not to overdo this or apply more powder to set it, might make it too heavy although this is pretty much a lightweight foundation.

The mineral foundation can be bought from Lovingminerals.com for RM48. It contains 5.5g product packaged in a 25gm jar. Let me tell you this, because the foundation’s coverage is pretty good (at least for me it is), you need very little each time you use, so do expect this foundation to last you a long while!

Oh, the brush that I usually use to apply the foundation is this… I can’t apply this with a sponge or fingers, can I?

EDM’s famous flat top brush!

Unbelievably soft and incredibly dense, this flat top brush is the ultimate multi-tasker. From foundation to finishing powder, its plush and luxurious synthetic fibers provide the perfect coverage, resulting in a flawless finish every time!

Taken from Lovingminerals.com

It’s worth every penny, I tell you. It’s dense enough to pick up enough powder, buffs really well, super super soft due to it’s synthetic fibers, no shedding or weird smell, and no fray/ stray hairs! I feel like picking up a backup for this brush, to be honest, as this brush takes a while to dry due to it’s density.

And it does help to provide a really natural finish with a nice coverage without foundation looking thick and cakey!

This brush can be bought from Lovingminerals.com at RM39. Snatch it when you see it, because this baby goes OOS really fast!

I highly recommend Lovingminerals as they provide really good service and are always fast in responding emails. They are really helpful too! They do offer COD services too, so please be sure to check theirb website for the dates and places!

Now, I need to go check which other shades of foundation in Lovingminerals would suit me, since I am still on a lookout for the one foundation that matches my face and neck! Ahak!

Other lovelies thought on the flat top brush:

Forgive me, kay?

I know I should have reviewed this earlier, but well, better late than never right?

Here goes!

I chose the lightest colour, N00 Very Light Ochre. The other colours were too dark or too yellow for me. I know we Asians have really strong yellow undertones, but not to the point of DARK YELLOW undertones!

It was so difficult choosing the right colour, because it was either too dark, or too yellow or it was weird on me. My best match is N00, but still it’s a little too light on me, that’s what I thought initially. But after using it with a few times with different brushes and different amount of powder, I found the solution. FYI, I’m a NC25-30–35. I use this with EDM flat top brush because the brush that comes with the foundation is HORRIBLE! Scratchy! I hate it! But EDM is so soft and silky that it feels oh-so-good to be on your face! Just bin the kabuki brush and use your own brushes. And when I use a really tiny amount, the powder actually matches my skintone pretty well. Either my face and my neck is 2 tone before, or my skin has gone fairer, or I was too heavy handed the first time I use the foundation.

A swatch of the foundation.

You need only a tiny amount of the foundation in order to get your face looking more even tone. With this, the redness around my cheeks are really minimized, freckles are not so visible and of course, my pores were visibly gone! The coverage is pretty good, if you ask me, since you only need so little of it to work on your face. And it’s lightweight! You don’t feel a thing on your face! Plus the powder’s pretty fine and smooth too, leaving your face matte with a soft touch.

Although it’s pretty good in terms of coverage and texture, it has it’s cons too. First thing first, it made my nose SHINIER than usual. The foundation has never said it offers oil control, but hey, I wasn’t expecting it to make my nose even oilier than normal! I tried this a few times, but still, my nose feels oilier comparing with days I don’t use the foundation at all. Sigh, what a let down. Second thing, you must not use it if your face is damp/ slightly oily. It will cause your foundation to be blotchy, patchy and uneven. >_< I was in a hurry one fine day so I did not dab my face with a tissue before I use the foundation and when I was done, the foundation look a wee bit cakey on me. =_=

I’m not sure if I want to get another one of this foundation, since one jar will last me for a long long time. Perhaps if the colour selection is wider and not so yellowish/ dark, I might consider getting another one more, but then again, with this foundation making my T-Zone oilier, I might as well just skip it.

Oh well, there’s nothing perfect. At least for me, foundations and concealers are my worst enemies!
