Hola!

Found a wee bit of time to blog, despite something MAJOR that’s going on currently Will let you know what is that when the time comes… which should be soon, tee hee!

Am reviewing something that isn’t very new, I think, but better late than never right?

Biore Cleansing Oil

Quite a highly raved product, if I am not mistaken, and I think it does deserves the praises!

It’s pretty much like any other cleansing oil that I have used before, but this is thicker than Inuovi’s Cleansing Oil. It took me a while to get used to it, as I am so used to the runny texture of Inuovi’s, that using Biore was making me feeling weird, that why on earth is this cleansing oil so thick! It’s a matter of getting used to anyway.

The smell is different, as this smells of apples. But sorry folks, I am not digging the apple scent as much. I feel it’s a little artificial and I rather stick to the normal floral scent, or unscented ones. Again, it’s my preference

Cleansing power, definitely good enough enough to remove all my makeup and stubborn mascaras. All I need is 2 pumps for my face and massage everything away! Also, do take note that the cleansing oil doesn’t emulsify as fast as normal, you need more water than usual to emulsify it. It takes a bite more effort to rinse everything off, but once done, you just feel clean, but not drying

Repurchasing? Yups! Good enough to take off makeup, although I would prefer if it emulsify faster and please, can you change the scent?

Ingredient list:

Haven’t been posting, neither I have a lot of time lately.

Work has been great, lotsa stuff to do everyday, and it doesn’t help after work I go clean my new room, unpack stuff, throwing out stuff (sobs! my beloved magazines!) and thinking on how to decorate my room and stashing all my makeup, skincare, fragrances etc.

And after a long day, covered myself in dust from top to toe, my face feel icky and yucky that I feel like scrubbing my face every single day.

BAD! You say.

I know, silly. I used something else, without needing me to scrub my face till it turns all red and yet left it clean and smooth.

Ah yes, the ever so lovely I Nuovi Splash Away Makeup Cleansing Oil.

This cleansing oil has been with me for ages! And I never find time to review it, and I always procrastinate. Oh dear, I hope Bob and Rina won’t be mad at me!

It’s texture is runny and liquid-y, not as thick as ZA’s Cleansing Oil, has a very light fragrance, which annoyed me at first, because it wasn’t floral nor fruity but just plain different from what I like, but after a couple of usage, I’m pretty immune to the smell.

Picture is a little off, but you get the idea what it’s all about.

I don’t use it with cotton pad, I just pour a generous amount onto my dry palms and massage them over my face.

2 or 3 minutes later, I clean my face off with water. No cloudiness (even if there is, it’s very minimal), waterproof mascara all removed (I used MJ/ Fasio/ Kiss Me mascaras which are quite well known to be a bitch when it comes to removal), face clean and smooth.

You know, even those horrible bumps which I tried scrubbing it off using my other cleansers/ scrub, but it just won’t come off, and with this, GONE!

GONE WITH THE OIL WIND!

I don’t know what those bumps are, but occasionally it appears. Weird. But at least I got myself a saviour!

This cleansing oil rinses off very easily, without any sticky residue or oily feeling. Just clean skin. Soft and smooth. I think the Geranium and Evening Primrose essential oil is working really well here!

And you need just a little to clean your whole face! A bottle can last you quite a while if you use it every other day

This is a perfect cleansing oil, which is perfect for cleansing, day or night. I would love to bring this for travel too! But… something held me back.

Which is this…

I am always afraid the cap might come off loose and everything in my bag get soaked in it’s oily-goodness.I wish it came with a screwable top or something that won’t be flimsy. But still I bring this along, wrapping securely with some plastic wrappers, so far nothing happen *touch wood*, but no one can guarantee me if it won’t next time!

Repurchasing? Hell yes!

I have used this on a daily basis as my normal-end-of-the-day cleanser. I can honestly tell you, I rather like it.

Based on close to almost 2 weeks of usage, I think it’s time to review this. But I’m breaking it into 2 parts, as a normal cleanser and as a makeup remover.

As a normal-end-of-the-day-cleanser

As the name implies, I use this to clean my face after work. I usually slab on moisturizer and sunscreen only, so I don’t really need to clean much. This works really, really well. You only need a pump or two onto a cotton pad, and gently wipe it across your face. Rinse with water and that’s it! Clean, smooth face! Do note that the scent is a little funny, a little plastic-ky or chemical though, nothing of a floral/ fruity note that I am so used to. >_< This is a little annoying to me, as I like something lightly scented, but since it does the job well, I'm kinda okay with it.

As makeup remover

This is where it gets tough. It said very clearly that it will be able to remove waterproof makeup, but sadly, it DID NOT remove any of my MJ mascara at all! Not even with a full 30 second-1 minute of pressing the cotton pad onto my eyes worked! Even with a gentle rubbing and wiping couldn’t get rid of it! >_< I am so so so disappointed! But it removed my base makeup and lippie well, took about 3 cotton pads to clean the whole face.

For the ultimate question, will I repurchase this?

I’m sitting on the fence actually, a yes and a no. Yes, because it works well as a normal cleanser, no because I think it failed to perform well as a makeup remover. Honestly, I might as well just stick to my trusty ZA cleansing oil for the whole makeup removal process!

It’s now available in Watson Midvalley for RM30.90, other than in Sasa, RM34.90. It’s cheaper to buy in Watson, but I don’t really recommend this product if you want a makeup remover that removes EVERYTHING. Even if you wish to purchase this as a normal cleanser, I think you have better choice out there. Really, don’t waste the money for something that could have performed better.

I had loved this, but now… sigh.

ZA Cleansemax Double Cleansing Gel

I was talking about ZA Cleansing Oil, Cyber Colours Makeup Remover, Elianto Makeup Remover and Maybelline Makeup Remover quite some time back when Chian Li mention about this cleansing gel.

And I totally forgot its existence because I didn’t quite like this. In fact, I think I hate it.

It’s gel, and it’s bluish-green colour. Scent wise is so so, smells a bit plastic or somewhat. I don’t fancy that.

Ugh. The smell puts me off. But then again, I don’t judge something with it’s smell. So I did used it.

I had full makeup on – makeup base, foundation, powder, blusher, mascara (waterproof), lippie, eyeshadows, eyeliners (waterproof) and it removes everything quite cleanly. Well, except for mascaras, because I don’t use mascaras that are not waterproof and smudgeproof mascaras are usually difficult to remove, that is why I give the responsibility of removing tough mascaras to my trusty Elianto and Maybelline Makeup Remover.

Having said that, it removes all other traces of makeup wonderfully well. Yes, it’s on par with ZA Cleansing Oil, so why hate it? The reason as below.

1. I have to do double cleansing AFTER using this.
2. It’s very oily and yucky when I use water to rinse off all the dissolved makeup. And I thought gel cleansers should leave a clean feeling.
3. I hate the smell.

Enough said.

So I stick to ZA Cleansing Oil. Oh, this cleansing gel was my first. And definitely my last.

Unless they change or improve the formula. Otherwise, no way am I using it again.

Cyber Colours Gentle Eye Makeup Remover

If you have noticed, there’s hardly any post about items that don’t work or any very bad comments on it.

And here you go, the first post which I have some very bad experience with and will NEVER EVER buy this again!

As you all know, I am very much in love with Maybelline and Elianto’s makeup remover. I can just use this two eye and lip makeup remover for the rest of life and not thinking of changing them at all!

But you girls ought to know better, even though you have something that works on your hand, you will still be tempted to try something else right? So the same goes for me!

I was running out of Maybelline makeup remover, so I thought I try Loreal’s since there’s been a lot of raves about it. I went to Watsons and it was out of stock so I head to Sasa. So I asked the sales assistant there that I am looking for Loreal’s makeup remover. She showed me a bottle and told me that’s the one. I asked her whether can it remove waterproof mascara or not and she said no. So then I thought okay, might as well get back Maybelline. The sales assistant probably figured I wanted to leave so she told me to try Cyber Colours makeup remover, which is really gentle, just like Loreal, and to top it off, it removes everything cleanly and of course, it’s cheap!

Now mark my bold words down. Because the truth is just right here!

I am someone who uses waterproof mascaras, and I hate smudges. Waterproof mascaras are usually hard to remove, so a good makeup remover is a must. Correct right? Well here’s the fun part!

For the claim that it is being gentle is really true, so true that even the easiest mascara to remove, Maybelline Turbo Boost can’t even be removed! My the other two makeup remover removes it in like just 10 seconds, but for this particular makeup remover, it takes like forever! >_< See, it’s so gentle! pun intended.

It’s way too gentle, and way too oily. I don’t like it. Not a single bit. Maybe it’s not as oily, but honestly, because I was so mad with it not being able to remove Maybelline Turbo Boost like the other two, I can’t be happy at all!

And the price, the sales assistant said it’s cheap. Oh really? For that super small bottle, it cost me RM23.90. Loreal’s retailing around that price, but with a larger quantity. I can go and get both Maybelline and Elianto makeup remover anytime for that similar price, and of course for a larger amount!

From then onwards, I don’t quite like to go to Sasa. I only go there when I have identified something that I want and grab that item and go! I find that the sales assistant there are very pushy in selling their in house brand which I don’t like at all. If you ask me, certain items from Cyber Colours are way over price for the results they give. It’s just not worth it. I rather invest a little bit more in something that really works.

So what say you girls?

Elianto Pomegranate Lip & Eye Makeup Remover

Another favourite from me! This is my 2nd bottle of lip and eye makeup remover from Elianto and I’m loving it as much as I love Maybelline’s makeup remover!

My first bottle was the Green Tea version. It has a very light green tea smell with light green liquid. I still remember that faint smell till this very day. I quite like the smell you see. Coming back to this, as the name implies, it’s Pomegranate. The smell is sweet and fragrant, that you feel like you are pouring juice over your eyes. Of course, depending on how you look at it, there are pros and cons.

I would grade this as heavily scented. So for people with sensitive eyes or sensitive nose, I don’t think this is good for you as irritation might occur. For me, I don’t have any problem, so I’m okay with it.

It’s strength in removal? I would say on par with Maybelline. I never have any problems in removing waterproof mascaras or eyeshadows. As usual, soak the cotton pad with the makeup remover, hold on to it for 10~30 seconds, and yay! Clean eyes!

Oiliness, well, it’s more or less like Maybelline, but it’s not as oily as Maybelline. It’s slightly lighter. It doesn’t dry out the skin or leaves my skin taut.

I think this is slightly more expensive than Maybelline, but I’m not too sure already. I know it’s below RM20 for a bottle, unless they jack up the price. I heard Elianto is on sales now, so if you want to try this out, now is the best time!

Elianto is available in Cinneleisure, The Curve, Sunway and lots more other places. But sigh, why not one in 1 Utama or Midvalley? >_<

Other than that, no complains from me!

Maybelline Eye & Lip Make Up Remover After reviewing ZA Cleansing Oil, I did promise to review makeup remover specially for eyes and lips, and I proudly present you this post!
Maybelline Eye & Lip Make Up Remover

After reviewing ZA Cleansing Oil, I did promise to review makeup remover specially for eyes and lips, and I proudly present you this post!

I think this is my 2nd or 3rd bottle of Maybelline Eye & Lip Makeup Remover and I will continue to purchase it! Simply because it’s wonderful!

I love the way it takes off even the most stubborn mascara in like 30 seconds and it’s very gentle to the skin, my skin around the eye area don’t feel taut or dry. I don’t need to rub hard just to get rid of eye makeup, just simply soak a cotton pad with it, leave on the eye area for 10 second to 30 second or longer, depending on the intensity of your eye makeup, gently rub a little, and voila, sparkling clean eyes!

*hearts hearts hearts*

Maybelline never fails me, and it’s cheap. Well, not very cheap if you count by the quantity, but as long as it doesn’t irritate my eyes and gets the job done, I don’t really care!

Oh, it’s slightly oily. I don’t quite like that. But given the fact that it’s good stuff overshines the oiliness, I think I can ignore that and enjoy Maybelline.

What else can I say? YES, I WILL REPURCHASE THIS!

Tried this or other makeup removers? Share your thoughts with me!

This review here is especially for a dear blogger friend of mine, Isabella @ The Muse. She has always been helpful in giving cosmetic advices and also lovely swatches and FOTDs! A must read blog! Love love love her very much!

ZA Deep Cleansing Oil

ZA is a sub-brand of Shiseido, if you didn’t know. The quality of the products arecommendable although one or two might stray off a bit and goes into the so-so or bad quality side. But don’t worry, this is of their star items (for me that is) and I’m loving every drop of it!

It’s liquid. Of course it’s liquid, it’s a cleansing oil! Okay, lame joke. It does not smell, not anything strong or smelly or nice smelling that I know of, so for those who likes the nice smell Shu Uemura’s cleansing oil, STAY AWAY from this one. You will be so disappointed. But for those who are not bothered by the smell as long it’s not smelly, this should be just right.

As you know, cleansing oil are to be used on DRY clean hands on a DRY face, see how I emphasize on the word “DRY”? Because if you use it on a wet hand or wet face, you will emulsify the cleansing oil before you can even use it to clean your face!

How to tell whether it is emulsified or not? The oil is transparent, but once mixed with water, it becomes a milky white colour. So, now you know.

Initially oily, but after you slowly massage the oil to get rid of those pesky dirt and stuff and of course, make up, you will need to rinse your face with clean water a few times. After that, soft clean skin! No need for double cleansing! Sunblock, makeup base, foundation, concealer, powder, blusher, lippy, all gone in just one step!

Although I love this cleansing oil, this product does have it’s flaws. If you did not rinse it off cleanly, the residue might cloud your eye for a few second, all your visuals will be blurry like there’s smoke or haze around. But don’t worry, after a while it goes off. So do be careful when using this if you are a contact lens user. It’s best to remove eye makeup with a eye makeup remover. If you need a recommendation, I will be reviewing that soon! So stay tune!

Other than that, nothing else. I love the fact that using this consistently on the nose can help reduce blackheads. I used this every week on my blackhead-filled nose, and a week later, my sister was telling me my nose looks a lot more smoother! Miracle! Maybe because it’s an oil based product so it can get rid of oil-based blackheads easier? Just my guess though.

And for the price of this and the availability, I am going to re-purchase this each time I run out of this! And the best part, sometimes during the Watsons sales you can get 2 bottles for the price of 1! Great deal isn’t it? Grab it real quick when it’s on sale, it’s almost always Out Of Stock!
