Eyebase Battle! UDPP or TFSI?
I know this is a post that’s way way way overdue.
My sincerest apologies aye?
Back to the real business!
The showdown between Urban Decay Primer Potion and Too Faced Shadow Insurance!
UDPP: 10ml, USD17
TFSI: 10.3ml, USD17
Both of these contain a similar amount of primer inside, but because of the packaging, UDPP loses some marks here. Due to the genie bottle design, it is IMPOSSIBLE to get ALL of UDPP that’s left inside the bottle, unless you cut it into half and put it in some air tight container to prevent it from drying, or put into those click-twist-pen brush applicator (think Stila’s lipglaze). TFSI is in a squeeze tube, so it’s possible to use up every single drop of the primer without wasting any stuff, and even if you need to cut it up, it’s not difficult at all! With all that’s said, it’s pretty obvious TFSI won in this category.
However, I wouldn’t really want to say so myself, as I have this problem. My TFSI leaks! >_< The picture says it all!
Wastage! And air gets into the product, making it go bad faster and dries up even faster! And the worst part is, I have no idea since when my TFSI started leaking. >_< Blergh! I hate this! I really had like the squeeze tube packaging, but if this happen, I don’t know if UDPP’s packaging is worse, or TFSI is worse. I can’t quite decide.
Moving on, TFSI has this annoying weird plastic scent which I hate. UDPP have no scent, I’m so glad about this! And I wonder if anyone who uses TFSI have this problem, my TFSI came out some clear, oil-like liquid first before any of the primer comes out. It happened when I just used it for the first time. I don’t know what’s that substance, but it never happen again after the first time. Hm. Thank god UDPP gave me no problems.
TFSI is more of a yellow-peach tone colour which goes on transparent when blended. UDPP is a little bit more of a yellow-pink tone primer which also goes on transparent after blending. TFSI is a little more creamier than UDPP, but the difference is rather subtle. Both feels dry and matte to the touch once blended.
I used the darkest gray colour in T’estimo Gradually Eye palettes in 05 Gray. As usual, Japanese eyeshadows are usually shimmery and pretty sheer (of course there are exceptions), so I thought this would be a good choice to test both UDPP and TFSI’s claim that make eyeshadows more vibrant. You judge yourself from the picture!
I was feeling a little like a mad scientist so I decided to run them over with water. And then tried to RUB THEM OFF. And whaddaya know!
The one without a base is almost gone, while UDPP and TFSI remains strong and vibrant! Woohoo! Now I am very impressed!
And of course, I must give them a good test on my eyes! I must make sure their claim of making eyeshadows stay put on the lids all day long without fading and creasing is TRUE!
Lo and behold!

May 1 2009 at 4.20pm, freshly applied

May1 2009 at 9.10pm, gently rubbed eyes before removing makeup
I am just so thrilled to notice that the fading is minimal, almost close to none and there is NO CREASING on my oily lids at all! Isn’t this wonderful!!!
Some people find that blending eyeshadows over UDPP is a little more difficult, which I think it’s true, and some says blending eyeshadows over TFSI is much easier than blending over UDPP, which I find it not true. To me, both primer makes blending a little more difficult than using the eyeshadow alone.
That’s quite a disappointment.
With a simple comparison being made, at this very moment, I think I still like UDPP better, despite the packaging. I hope their new wand will enable us to make full use of UDPP without the need of cutting the bottle into half! Other than that, I like UDPP a little bit more than TFSI because it will not leak. I like TFSI for it being really ‘user-friendly’ but sadly it leaks! Major pet peeve! No leaky stuff please!
Maybe I just got a faulty TFSI, so I am willing to give it a second chance
That if I run out of TFSI AND UDPP. LOL. But if you ask me, under normal circumstances, minus the weird smell and leaky packaging, I’ll take TSFI, since I don’t need to wrestle over a tiny bottle just to scrap the goodies out.
If only UDPP comes in TFSI’s non leaky squeeze tube, then I will be their BIGGEST LOYAL FAN!

You have long lashes my friend!!
That reminds me that i’ve yet to start using my UDPP!! No occasion for me to wear it lah!!

UDPP won on my showdown too
that is weird with the packaging!

LOL…my vote is for UDPP too, although it’s so hard to get..
locally though, inuovi’s eye base is looking pretty good!

eeps! what’s up with the TFSI packaging? leaking like that.
great comparisons! I’ve also read great stuff about Smashbox HD lid primer. but it’s $20… spensive!

Jenn: Long lash hor? I still think it’s short! AHAHAHA! Use your UDPP! Or not you can give me!
Nikki: TFSI and UDPP both have bad packaging
Bee: Really? Is the base good? No creasing? LOL. If I can get something that works like UDPP/TFSI with a smaller price tag, why not!
Connie: I am not going to be bothered with Smashbox! $20! I rather get UDPP /TFSI la. Definitely will work!

i kept my TFSI in the drawer case. i didn’t realize that my case was so full that the TFSI got stucked. i forced the drawer to close till finally i realized that my TFSI bursted and leaked! T___T

you have beautiful eyes girl!
haha udpp and tfsi is too expensive.
i even debate to get loreal decrease

UDPP is highly raved in everywhere! So lucky to use it. I can’t afford it.
Hahaha, Jenn can give it to me too!

Not a fan of UDPP! It makes my lids drier than it already is, and it clumps! Blergh!! And yes, it’s hard to bland shadows over UDPP. TFSI is OK on me, but right now, am loving Loreal De-crease – works just as good, if not better, FOR HALF THE PRICE! Woot!!

great tutorial plue! both look equally good to me. i am now using inuovi eye primer, and i do find that it to be a little hard to blend the shadows nicely

addy: OH GOSH! that’s bad! don’t cry~ *hugs* next time be more careful kay?
traclyn: LOL. raves everywhere!
Save up a little and get it then!
puss: I read ur review about it. Tee hee. Loreal De-crease aye? I wonder how is it like. I worry for oily lids like mine won’t be able to use Loreal.
pretty: Hm, izzit all eyes primer like that ah? Does it crease on you?

great review! I always tempted to get UDPP but my TFSI is still like untouched.. LOL. I feel that its hard to blend the eyeshadow after base unless we put a thin layer of loose powder on top of it first.. :S
But anyway, thanks for reviewing again, looking forward to UDPP when my TFSI retires… LOL!

Sue: It’s true it’s a little hard to blend if you have the primer on
Is there any primer that won’t make e/s hard to blend? Le sigh.

Shucks, I must be the only one who prefers the TFSI to UDPP then. The UDPP is slightly runny for me. My eyelids are super oily, so I needed the something more matte, which was what the TFSI provided.

Tine: I like both, but I dislike TFSI a bit more because of the funny smell. UDPP was creamy like TFSI, and as matte as TFSI. I got super oily lids too! hehe.
