Loreal Hydrafresh Aqua Gel

Posted by plue | face,loreal,moisturizer,skincare | Saturday 2 May 2009 11:14 am

My skin’s thirsty.

Always in an uber cold and drying air-conditioned room from 8am till 6pm, and staring at the PC non stop, imagine the oil that’s secreted that’s enough to fry 10 eggs! Ew! Gross!

And oil blotters? I can finish 1 box (1 box = 250 pieces in like a week, if I want to?)

No way am I letting my skin suffer!

So besides drinking water like a fish, literally, I switch my day moisturizer from Olay Total Effects to this!

Loreal Hydrafresh Aqua Gel!

I used the Aqua Essence before and had love it to bits! Click here if you want to have a read on it.

So what’s the difference?

Packaging, it’s the same. Same jar. Same big frosty heavy glass jar. 50ml. Same price too! Rm29.90. :)

But that’s all the similarities. They are both, quite different!

First, the colour. :P

This is a creamy whitish green, while Aqua Essence is a translucent green colour. Aqua Gel, albeit it’s name, it’s not very gel-like, it’s kinda like a cross between gel and cream, not as heavy as a cream, but not that light as a gel. Aqua Essence are all the way gel. As in gel. Scent wise, Aqua Gel smells more or less the same like Aqua Essence, but not as sharp. And Aqua Gel don’t sting your face as easily as Aqua Essence! Good thing!

I am too lazy to type, so I just snap pictures of the descriptions. I am fabulously lazy. LOL. But yet I get the info out to you people!

So, it works pretty well for me. Non sticky, lightweight, absorbs into my skin fast and left my skin pretty soft and nice. I did notice a reduce on oil production, though not that much, but a reduction is a good sign that my skin is drinking the goodies up! So far no break out for me, and I like how my skin look with it being soft and supple.

I usually use this for the day, as my skin requires the extra bost of hydration and during the nights when my skin is feeling fry and taut. Hardly happens though. Olay is usually used as my bedtime moisturizer as it can help to repair my skin. Tee hee. I am so clever.

So for hot humid days in Malaysia, or whever you are, remember to drink loads of water to keep yourself cool and well hydrated. Your body and skin will thank you for this!

p/s: You get flu/ colds much easier if you are not well hydrated, I notice. At least for me. Cough cough. Wheez wheez. Am sick actually for the past week. Tsk.

Take good care, peeps!

Am off for the weekends! ^_^

but i thought olay would be a more moisturizing or should i say more oily in nature since its meant from aging skin?
aging skin needs loads of hydration to prevent wrinkles?
or did i get all my facts wrong?
    *oops* haha

Lynn: Olay is in cream, it’s heavier but not that oily, Loreal’s in gel, lighter, both are good for dry skin, but I wouldn’t want to use creams during the day as I tend to get oily real fast and my skin feels ‘stuffy’, whereas for Loreal, it’s ok for me both day and night. I have slightly dry skin, but not that dry. :) Uber dry skin may find Loreal not strong enough. And yes, hydration is important to prevent fine lines and wrinkles :)

hmm..means there is no difference between the aqua gel and aqua essence? I was thinking about getting the aqua essence but I already have this.

btw, I really love your blog. very articulate and easy to be read=)

i have tried this some years back, i really loved the gel texture very much. but for some reasons, my skin just hates l’oreal products. i cant use any of them!

Cassandra: Yeah, it’s pretty nice ya? :D

Jean: The essence is much more watery and it stings a bit compare to the gel. I have used both actually :) It’s more or less the same to me, so I guess you can skip it if your skin is not overly dry. And thanks for the compliment! ^_^

    Pretty:
Aw, maybe it’s the alcohol content?

    Hey Plue! :)

Just wanted to share…I’m currently using Aquamoist Hyaluronic acid serum…and it’s now one of my HG products. :D
Was suppose to try out Biotherm’s Aquasource and Clinique’s moisture surge…in the end got a bottle of Aquamoist. And I’m loving it. haha. I pair it with my regular moisturizers (which were not doing anything to help my dry flaky skin) and it works like a charm. :) Super soft baby-ish smooth skin. :D

and yeah, I’m one of those who can’t use L’Oreal products as well. :( dum dum sensitive skin. anyway, good to see that you’re doing well. hehe. miss seeing you around on campus. :P

Heidi: Oh no! You tempt me! I shall give this a try next time :D They come in only hydrating range right? Wonder if there’s anything that’s both hydrating AND whitening/ brightening.

I miss campus life too :( Boo. You are graduating this year aye?

hahaha. i’m not sure if it’s good for combi or oily skin…definitely a savior for dry skin. it gets absorbed pretty fast too. :) I tried out the moisturizer for this range and it’s similar to loreal/clinique/biotherm i think..the gel based kind. :) and yeah, i think there’s only the hydrating range…would be so awesome if there was an all in one product! hahaha. save money and time. :P hydrating + whitening + anti-aging + pore refining xD

yup, graduating this year…if all goes well. haha. :P

Heidi: It will go well! Happy Graduating! though I think I never really wanted to graduate in the first place :P

Hm, I might give Aquamoist a try, but so far loreal’s working fine for me :P The serum is like RM98 which is a bit ouchy for me, but lol, I might go nuts and buy! AHAHAHAHAH! And yeah, why no all-in-one product! That would be awesome!

Hi Elaine, I think if this stings you, Loreal Hydrafresh might sting you too. But do bear in mind if your skin is extremely hydrated, it might sting a little when you use, but once your skin is back to how it was when it is hydrated, it shouldn’t sting anymore. That aside, I think it would be good if you do a test patch first and see other than stinging, is there any other side effects.
