Thoughts: FreshKon Mosaic Cosmetic Contact Lenses

I am no expert in contact lenses, and I hadn’t thought much about them until I keep seeing everyone around me is wearing it. Be it the black enlarging ones, the natural brown ones, or coloured ones like blue, green grey and whatever colour there is, people are wearing them like how they put on clothes everyday!

Seriously, that’s what i think!

And I never really did wanted to wear them because of a few reason:

  1. I got NO knowledge about them
  2. I am worried of harming my eyes
  3. Lenses are EXPENSIVE
  4. and last but not least, it’s EXPENSIVE to keep using them.

But that’s what i thought initially, for most parts.

I told myself last year to try something new on the cosmetic department for this year, and I figure wearing lenses would be a good one. I’ve seen how good Connie look with lenses on, and I’ve seen eye makeup looking very much better with the right colored lenses and yeah, it’s kinda fun too. So i decided to take the plunge.

But hey, I don’t know what brand to start looking for and I got no idea which seller provide good services, so since the eye is such a fragile area and it’s just a test for myself to see if I like them enough for long term usage, I told myself what the heck, just get some establish brand that’s out in the market.

And here we have FreshKon Mosaic Cosmetic Contact Lenses.

On to what I think!

I wore this lense for Velvet Blue’s FOTD, and have been using them again last weekend.

As a first time wearer, I didn’t find it difficult to wear them. Wearing them on my right eye was a breeze, while wearing them on the left eye requires some effort, but it was no biggie. LOL. While having the lenses on, everything is clear and bright, but there’s a slight blurriness at the outer rim of my eyes. I think it’s because my eyes are not quite adjusted to wearing lenses, but after a while, say around 30 mins to 1 hour, the blurriness was gone. :) I hope I am making sense here.

I wore them for about 4 to 5 hours, and notice a close to zero discomfort. I won’t say it’s totally comfortable, as my head keep telling me I have something in eyes so I must be careful. Haha. My mind loves to play games!

I was worried the lenses would be drying, but it wasn’t. It didn’t make my eyes dry so I suppose the claim of having superior wettability and high water content (55%) allows ultimate comfort for daily wear is true.

This lense is supposedly to give users a subtle colour yet vivid-effect natural looking eyes, which I think it delivers. Like what the girls had said on the FOTD post, the effect is quite natural, and even though it’s blue, it’s not too striking and neither it’s scary. I definitely do not want to look like Asian pretending to have striking blue eyes which would scared most people away! :P

Anyway, here’s a comparison picture before and after wearing the lense.

Sorry for the blur “before” picture, not sure why it turn out that way when I use the same settings for the “after” picture >_<

I did no photoshopping or put on any makeup, not even concealer. All I did was curl my lashes, put on mascara and then wear the lense. The BF told me my eyes look bigger when I put on the cosmetic lenses. :D And the fact that he didn’t say it’s ugly or striking or scary, means it’s natural enough on me.

Means eye makeup time can be reduced to half because all I need is concealer, curler, mascara and lenses to look good! Weee!

So am I using cosmetic lenses for good? Not sure, but my first time experience is pleasing enough to make me wanna use it more often!

  3. That color looks natural on you. If you ever wanna try circle lenses, try not to buy the black ones. They only look good in pictures but not in real life. It really doesn’t look natural and I find that it makes girls look stoned. LOL..Try the brown ones instead cos it’ll blend into the eyes better and actually looks really pretty =)

  5. haha this ones are nice.
if you dont have experience with lenses,
best to go to optical shops
its better if you start with normal non-coloured lenses actually
so, this should cover the knowledge of handling contact lenses and any harm it might cause your eyes

once you know the basic 101 of putting on lenses, then you can start ordering geo lenses which are much cheaper!
this solves your exp part. ;)

  6. The colour looks surprisingly natural! Yea, I guess with coloured lenses your eyes will really stand out and you won’t need any more make-up… don’t know if it’ll be suitable for work though. -imagines- Haha! Guess it should be nice for a special occasion but I doubt I’d wear coloured lenses every day cos I heard they’re more harmful to the eyes as compared to regular lenses…

  8. I remember my first contact lens wearing experience, I spent almost 2 hours at the optical store trying to put them on! Haha! Took me a few days to get used to it and now it’s almost a breeze. :-)

  9. Sue: I quite like the subtle enlarging effect too! I got it for RM75 cuz it’s non powered. :)

    Sarah:
Thanks for the tip! Will keep it in mind :D Brown would be great for everyday wear, dontcha think?

    Lynn:
No point for me wearing non coloured lense as I don’t need glasses :) I’m not sure if I wanna order GEO lenses as I heard them being not very hygienic, but I can’t be sure~

    Mika:
I’m not sure if Japan sells them, but I think if you look in Ebay or in optical shops, they should be selling it~

  10. Gio: Thank you Gio!

Connie: Yala, and u look awesome with them!

Fiona: yes, this is targetted for working professionals or those who prefer a subtle look :D I’m not sure if coloured lenses are more harmful than normal lenses, but I suppose if you buy an establish brand, it’ll be safer to use daily. Just follow the instructions and it should be fine.

Xin: Wah! So you only wear one side huh? I didn;t know ler! :P

Nikki: It is very pretty! :D I was scared in the first place, but I guess I just wanted to try. Ask your optometrist for help! :D
