Kanebo Freshel White C Cool Lotion for Dry Skin
After using almost half a bottle of this, I think I am qualified to review it already
Freshel C is the drugstore skincare line for Kanebo. The spokesperson for this line is Tokiwa Takako, the same lady that is also one of the spokesperson of Coffret D’Or. Man, I love Coffret D’Or, for some unknown reason
Before I go out of topic, I quite like Takako-san, as she has this fresh, energetic feel about her, and I honestly adore Matsushima Nanako of Kose too. Elegant and ladylike! Ah! Perfect woman!
Er… where were we?
Oh yes! Hm, this lotion, also known to us as toner, I totally don’t understand why the Japanese call lotion, but oh well, like most Japanese brand, their skincare contains alcohol, and this one, I think the alcohol amount is heavier than usual.
I don’t usually notice alcohol smell in my toners, but for this, the smell is really strong! And you can immediately feel the cooling effect of the alcohol on your skin!
This may be a bad thing, or a good thing, depending on your skin type. Although this is stated for dry skin, I can’t quite find it moisturizing enough for dry skin.
BUT… that’s the catch here!
I have combination-oily skin, and using this, I can feel the effect of the alcohol working on my skin. First thing, it DOES NOT dry out my skin at all. In fact, it’s light enough to be absorb by skin and not giving an oily feel to my troublesome nose, forehead and chins, yet is moisturizing enough for my cheeks.
So far after using this for quite a while, I notice my pores is a little smaller. It feels and look more refine.
While the toner is stated to have whitening effect, I don’t quite see the whitening effect on me. Perhaps it did help, but I think it’s the whitening essence that’s helping to brighten and/ or whiten my skin
To me a toner is a toner, if it does help to whiten, it’s a plus. If it doesn’t, I don’t really bother much. As long as it doesn’t cost me a bomb! LOL.
In a nutshell, I like this because it does quite a good job for my face, but I am disliking it for the heavy alcohol smell and possibly the heavy alcohol content.
Would I repurchase? I got another 3 more bottles for me to use for a long long time! It’s really worth getting if your don’t have sensitive skin and the toner is on sale ie. buy 1 free 1. Otherwise, I think you can skip this and use something else. I am just so NOT willing to dish out RM40+ for a mere toner.
i have a bottle of this too! still unused though
bought it coz it was on sale, RM25, and coz i wanted to try out new lotion to substitute my Kose lotion which breaks a hole in my pocket every time i buy
although i’m a big fan of Kose esp their sekkisei lotion. hehe…
and, i *finally* bought MJ’s foundation case today. my friend thinks i’m crazy just to buy the case without the foundation. HAHA!!
[Reply]
hi Jingy, I can’t quite buy an expensive toner, I splurge only on the essence and moisturizer
ahahah~ MJ foundation case is pretty, I think it shud fit a shiseido or za two way cake… since it’s under shiseido
[Reply]
Aww shucks, it’s got alcohol? Unfortunately that would be a no no for me. But thanks for the review though
[Reply]
Yeah, they have alcohol sadly
What toners are you using now? I think it's a little difficult to find something without alcohol that works well on me >_<
[Reply]
wow, you must love this product, 3 more bottles ??? lol thanks for the review
[Reply]
i cant really afford expensive stuff too as i’m still a student:( that’s why i had to look for alternatives although i must say Kose has really good products.
hmmm i dont think ZA’a two way cake fits the MJ case ler =/ i compared and the size is a bit diff.
and why is alcohol in toner bad eh? to me it’s like not diff..hehe..
[Reply]
aiks, it doesn't fit eh? too bad dy…the case is so pretty!
hm… i wanna try out new 2 way cake, but haven come across something i like >_<
dunno how the MJ perform…
and according to some cotters in CozyCot, it seems like using toner with alcohol in it in a long run dries out the skin
I'm not too sure bout this, but if the alcohol content is not too high, and you have oily skin to start, i dun think it will dry out. At least for me
[Reply]
Yea the case is really pretty..i’m now considering buying the powder case too lol
i’m looking for foundation cakes too, was really gonna buy ZA’s coz i heard many good reviews abt it but i dont like the case. and MJ’s one is just too ex IMHO
well, my forehead is the oiliest part of my face, used to have often breakouts back then when i knew almost nothing on skincare =\
[Reply]
Ahahaha~ my T-zone is the oiliest part
I hardly have breakouts, but more of freckles and oiliness problem. I started my skincare routine when I was 13, but was a bit lazier compare to now la
i had always like my face to be nice LOL even since young!
[Reply]
started since 13??!! wow! you’re so hardworking!
i started doing all/at least 3 steps everyday religiously since about 3 years ago? lol was a lazy bum.
previously i use only cleanser + toner/moisturizer
[Reply]
ahahaa~ my 1st cleanser was from follow me, it was green and white, very mild one. i was 12. then i use J&J baby cream since 13, but i always hated it, cuz it's oily. and when i was 14, i use J&J ph 5.5 toner, ady DC now and use Avon's sunblock, also DC. but i hated everything cuz it was oily, so was rather lazy at times. i used olay whitening cream, oily, J&J ph 5.5 cleanser (this is nice smelling even though it's fragrance free!), and no sunblock.
and alot of other stuff, which went thru trial and error.
LOL, that explains the freckles aye?
