Neutrogena Ultra Sheer Dry-Touch Sunblock

Another sunblock on my dressing table. Has Biore sunblock been beaten out of it’s champion place as my favourite sunblock? You will have to read further on to know the results!

I bought this in a whim. I was fascinated by the word, dry-touch. I hated sunblocks which leaves an oily greasy feel on the face or body. And in this kind of hot, humid weather, it’s a definite killer if it goes on oily and greasy.

This particular sunblock has a nice light scent, something that Biore lacks of. It’s texture is thick and creamy, but I find it’s a bit difficult to spread. Perhaps I am so used to the liquid consistency that Biore has. A little change doesn’t hurt right?

Now, does it really dries down into what it claims to be “dry touch”? For me, it dries down to “semi-matte” finish. Not exactly matte, slightly oily, so for me, it’s not a dry-touch feeling at all.

Should I even mention oil control? I think I should. This sunblock offers little to none oil control properties. Yes, you saw it. Little to none. So people with oily skin, STAY AWAY! You have been warned!

I tested this out on a usual working day, where I have to squeeze and rush for the KTM. The heat, the mess and evertyhing = oil-prone face. So I decided to go 50-50. Half face Biore, another half with this. So my verdict on oil control?

Biore’s the winner! My half face with Neutrogena was oily already by the time I got to my office, while Biore is semi-matte. Big difference. So I thought perhaps I should go one day Biore, the other day Neutrogena for a test. And so I did. Same thing again. Same KTM station, same situation. The day I had Biore on my face is still quite matte and fresh after the whole ordeal which is about 1 hour, and with Neutrogena, my face is nothing but oiliness in just 1 hour of cramping and everything.

To summarize everything:

Scent
Neutrogena wins!

Oil- control
Biore wins!

Ease to spread on face
Biore wins!

Affordability
It’s a tie. Not much difference on price.

For those who are thinking of whether to get this or Biore’s , stop thinking and get Biore instead.

Neutrogena’s sunblock is definitely not on my re-purchase list. I love the scent, but that’s all it offers. Too bad.

  1. ooh! Luckily I did not buy the Neutrogena sunblock. I was tempted to but decided to get Garnier’s instead.

  2. Garnier is pretty good actually! I’ll be reviewing it soon. I bought the purple one (they have white, yellow and purple) and it really does help to brighten up dull complexion. Excellent as a makeup base too.

  4. that’s weird, the neutrogena worked better in terms of oil control than biore. but i still prefer biore cos it doesnt contain oxybenzone (which neutrogena does) and no fragrance. Plus neutrogena is more expensive here in sg.

  5. hi Shin!

maybe it's my skin, sometimes it is problematic with sebum secretion >_<

but i'm glad to know that neutrogena works for ya! though not for me :P

How's much izzit in Sg? Malaysia's selling for Rm36.90 if not mistaken :)

    Thanks for dropping by!

  6. hi:)
actually neutrogena doesnt work well for me, im somehow allergic to smth in it, but it’s super gd in terms of keeping my face shine-free.
    biore’s S$11.50, while neutrogena’s S$20.30 here. Huge diff eh?

  7. hi Shin!

everything got pros and cons eh? hehe~

i’ve actually counted that if we take the price of each ml with the price, actually neutrogena is cheaper. because it’s 88ml, and biore is around 30~50ml, not very sure ady.

but yeah, yours is a huge difference if we see them as a whole. sigh, i wish things are cheaper or we get higher salary! :P
